IDENTIFYING YOUNG CIGARS

How do I recognize a young cigar, and what can I do to salvage one?
There are three kinds of young cigars. Some can be salvaged, others can't.
The first type are cigars made with improperly fermented tobacco. . . . They taste sharp and hot, with little complexity. Unfortunately, no amount of time in a humidor will improve improperly fermented, or "raw," cigars. . . .
The second type of green cigars are made with adequately fermented but improperly aged tobacco. . . These cigars may not become what they could have been had the tobacco been properly aged, but they can become enjoyable. . . .
The last variety of young cigars are made with properly treated tobacco but are shipped immediately after being rolled. . . All the cigars probably need is about a month in your humidor.
